Seaman First Class Martin Davenport enlisted in the United States navy during World War II. He served in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Gwin. Mr. Davenport actually witnessed the signing of the Peace Treaty in Tokyo Bay. He was within a few yards of General MacArthur on the Battleship Missouri. He was married to his wife, Laverne, for 73 years. Martin and Laverne have two daughters, three granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren.
