At the middle school level, the primary district assessment is NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). Under som e circumstances students may be selected to be assessed with Riverside's Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). All students in grades 6 through 8 are assessed with MAP multiple times each year. Students in 8th grade participate in PSAT, and AAPPL testing which helps to inform initial recommendations for high school placement.

For students who are English Language Learners, the ACCESS test is administered in Winter for all grades. Students who obtain a 4.8 composite performance level are slated to exit EL status. State Assessment of Academics continues through 8th grade for all students.
