Utilizing critical reasoning and the nursing process, the student is expected to:
Distinguish between spirituality, religion, and faith
Identify spiritual needs common to all people
Discuss the relationship of spirituality to health
Describe the beliefs and religious practices of major religions and how they may affect health care
Discuss how patients, families, and nurses deal with suffering
Identify questions that could be used for spiritual assessment
Discuss nursing diagnoses that apply to spiritual needs
Identify goals/outcomes for nursing interventions to assist the patient toward spiritual health
Discuss evaluation of therapeutic interventions for meeting patient goals/outcomes related to spiritual needs
