When a Student is Absent

Art:

Come to the art room during recess with (or without) a justified absence note to learn what work you have missed and to complete it. 7th and 8th grade students may send an email to check in and learn what work they missed while absent. If an assignment was assessed (graded) in class the day a student is absent, the student must complete the work and have the assignment assessed before their next art class. The only exception is for school sponsored field trips and absences of a week or longer.

Band:

The student is responsible for talking to Mr. B on their own time to explain their absence and find out what they missed. The student will then have to make up the missed work in a reasonable amount of time agreed upon by the teacher and student.

Music:

If a student is absent they must bring in an excused absence slip to Ms. Wood the day they return. Upon their return, they will have until their next class to make-up an assignment. It is a student's responsibility to come see Ms. Wood for any work. Work is to be completed during recess or after school if prior arrangements have been made.

Choir:

Students absent from choir must see Ms. Wood before class starts to catch up on any missed music. Music is always reviewed at the beginning of class so a student that has been absent will have an opportunity to catch up then as well. Students may come during recess or after school to catch up on music as well.

Connections:

It is the student's responsibility to talk to the teacher to see what work he is missing. He has to do it the same day he comes back to school. If the absence is excused he will have the chance to turn in the missing work next class and still have full credit. If he waits until next class to talk to the teacher he will have one week to turn in counting as late which is a 70% of the full credit. If the absence is not excused his missing work will count as late and he will have one week to turn it in.

PE: Absent students will not get any participation points for that/those class(es) they missed. Absent students are responsible to bring Mr Duenas or Mr Rodriguez a note to justify if necessary.

Technology:

In the case of a Justified Absence, it is the student's responsibility to speak with the teacher prior to leaving school and the student will have the same number of days to complete the assignment as he or she missed, once they return to school.
