ARTIST STATEMENT - PAUL PINZARRONE

This work is a study of how nature and power rhyme. It is a study of candy-colored sensual puzzles displayed on plexiglas and metallic paper. The viewer is drawn in to feel comforted yet disturbed, pulled towards sensuality but paused at the detachment. The human figure is my canvas, allowing me to wrap each in fractal patterns to appear as tattoos or unusual skin or something else. The power of symmetry is evident in each of these pieces; from symmetry of the figure to symmetry of the trees or patterns or mandala behind. I celebrate the stories of Andromeda, of Titian’s depiction of the Penitent Magdalene and meditative poses of figures in prayer. All are invited in to play and explore these puzzles. This work is digital…. I use flame, fractal and painting software for digital airbrush, paint and digital photography to show you my world. The viewer determines if they are photographs of dreams or science fiction or something else.
