ARTIST STATEMENT - NETTA GANOR
Netta Ganor - Israel
The art of painting is like a two-dimensional hologram in an object, on which the additional dimensions of the artist's personality and the ideas they express are projected. The ideas that come out of my paintings, which sometimes surprise people due to my physical disability, is that life is beautiful. I paint in a way that captures the colorful, optimistic, perhaps a little childish and naive side of reality. Art that makes people smile. My art is ranging from figures and portraits to nature, animals and landscapes I find in photos taken for me by friends and relatives. It combines precision, attention to detail and vibrant motives. On a technical level my paintings are rather small due to my limited range of motion, but that does not prevent me from portraying miniature, intricate details in my paintings. I work primarily in acrylics and often employ bold colors in a way that captures the colorful, optimistic side of reality in a naïve-realistic manner. I see my art as a medium that allows me tremendous freedom to be creative and to convey a message to the world, that regardless of my disability I am "high on life", full with hope and optimism and always see the bright side of things. I want to inspire people to believe that everything is possible if you put your heart and mind to it.
