Frequently Asked Questions

What are you doing with the summer review packet?

  • The review packet will be collected on first day of regular class (not freshman orientation).

How do I get extra help?

  • First, attempt all homework using your class notes, previous assignment, textbook, and your innate drive and curiosity. You will learn the MOST by attempting and accomplishing a problem using your own resources. Then, seek help. Your teachers are available before school, during most PRTs, and after school by appointment. Please do not assume that the teacher is available when you are. Peer tutors and adult tutors are also available – see your counselor in the Guidance Office.

What can I do to bring up my grade?

  • For grading details and extra credit, see Grading symbols and scale. For an honest discussion about your growth as a student in the course, it is best to make an appointment with your teacher with the specific intent to be open to growth to new ideas on how to study and learn.

If I am concerned that Algebra 2-Honors is too much too soon for me, how can I explore my options?

  • It is normal for students to at times feel overwhelmed by the adjustment to an Honors math course. A conversation with your teacher is a best start. Should it be necessary, we can discuss a drop to Algebra 1-Accelerated during the first semester.

The first semester of Algebra 2-Honors was difficult. Should I drop to Algebra 1-Accelerated for the second semester?

  • The first semester of Algebra 2-Honors contains a great deal of in-depth review of material we expect the student to have mastered from Algebra 1. The second semester is almost entirely new material. If the first semester was exceedingly difficult, a discussion about dropping to Algebra 1-Accelerated may be warranted.
