Library Hours

The AISZ Library is open daily from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (3:00 p.m. on Fridays).

Lower School recess in the library (12:20-12:50)    Upper School Recess in the library MS (12:00-12:20 and HS (12:50 – 13:30)

The library does not provide a baby-sitting service and students should be old enough to work independently after school as there is no guarantee that there will be supervision available.

The library is not open during school vacations or the summer break.

 Student Use

Students have many opportunities to visit the library through a combination of fixed and flexible schedules. Students in PreK-K  visit the library once a week for 30 minutes, primarily for story time, though they also learn the basic library skills.  Students in Grades 1-5 come once a week for 45 minutes.   Lower School teachers schedule additional time as needed.

Lower School students usually exchange books during their library period, but they may do so at any other time.

Students in Grades 6 and up come to the library on an as-needed basis.  Typically the classroom teacher and the librarian schedule library visits to coincide with the start of a research project.  More library or classroom sessions may follow during the course of a project. 

Secondary School students may check out books at any time when the librarian not teaching.

Upper School students may use the library before school, during recess, or anytime they receive teacher permission.

Flexible Schedule

Lower School classes visit the library on a fixed schedule. Upper School classes function on a flexible schedule, scheduling time in the library as needed.
