Vocal  Music Program

The objective of the Vocal Music Program is to provide students with positive musical and educational experiences through the process of singing fundamentals, rehearsals and performances. Students will be engaged in singing from a wide variety of musical styles, which will culminate in performance. Additionally students will demonstrate understanding of basic music skills which include sight-reading, rhythmic and melodic composition.  Throughout their years in the program, students will build confidence as solo singers as well as ensemble members and enhance basic musicianship. Elements of the course include, but are not limited to:

Sight-Singing: Reading a melodic line of music using solfege.

Vocal Technique: The development of proper vocal technique.

Music Theory: Learning the basic-advanced elements of music notation and reading. (written and aural)

Music History: Studying important eras of music as well as composers and styles.

Practice: The life skills of concentration, problem solving, goal setting and cooperative learning through music.
