Our Approach

The Alle-Kiski Academy of Excellence is designed to leverage the aligned curricula offered by regional school districts. Leveraging the current aligned curriculum facilitates a seamless transition for many reasons that are unobtrusive to learning.  As part of this program, non-negotiables include:

• Student-centered learning is the focus; the success or failure of the program is self-dictated by the student’s character and values.  

• AKAE student success is defined as:

  • Growth by the individual student 

  • Progress toward learning targets

• Professional Learning Community teams are integral to the creation of the Alle-Kiski Academy of Excellence and the sustenance thereof

• Program curricula are aligned to Pennsylvania state standards

• Google Workspace and its affiliated applications are used as the online platform

• Google Classroom is the Learning Management System (LMS) utilized for the delivery and communication of teaching and learning

• A dedicated domain exists for the distance learning program (@a-kae.com)

• The student's home districts work with the staff of AKAE to provide support to family's needs

• Partner districts are responsible for providing the agreed-upon technology to their participating staff members and students/families for this program

• The Alle-Kiski Academy of Excellence is committed to creating and maintaining the best-aligned program of instruction, blending balanced synchronous and asynchronous learning approaches
