What is the role of the family in the Alle-Kiski Academy of Excellence?

 Families must provide an active, monitored email account for communication from the Alle-Kiski Academy of Excellence and its staff.  Families must also join Google Classroom Guardian Summaries and use their child's credentials to see the student's coursework view.  Families will agree to an acceptable use policy related to the use of the Chromebook provided as part of the program and will be strongly encouraged to purchase the Chromebook insurance through their home district that will be covered at orientation.

What are the characteristics of a successful Virtual Learning student?

To be successful in this program students should:

• Be self motivated and able to follow a schedule

• Enjoy working both in a guided and independent environment

• Be willing to ask for help

• Be developing time-management skills to meet deadlines provided by instructors

• Communicate questions and/or concerns to their teacher through written or oral communication

• Feel comfortable expressing themselves in a written format

• Enjoy problem solving

• Be comfortable in a virtual environment

• Be open to trying new things
