About Me

Tracy Mercer, Block House Creek Elementary School Counselor

I have been the school counselor at BHC since 2006. Before that I taught in a special education behavioral program at Cedar Park Middle School for eight years. I am a Leander HS graduate. GO LIONS! I attended Leander ISD schools since preschool! My teaching degree was obtained at The University of Texas at Austin. Hook Em Horns! I obtained my Master of Education in School Counseling degree at Texas State University.

I became a school counselor because I saw the need for them in my own life as a student. My goal is to be the school counselor that I needed when I was in school. I want each student to know that they matter. I want them to know the choices they have in life. I want them to know that I care about them.

My experiences as a parent and as a special education behavioral teacher have helped me to become a better school counselor. I continue to learn daily as there is so much to learn and new ideas to explore. I enjoy supporting parents and teachers in their roles. I strive to be a practical resource for them.

On a personal level, I love to work in my yard. I enjoy watching movies and reading young adult novels. My favorite place to be is at the lake. My dream is to live in a lake house someday. I love animals, but especially cats! I am introverted so I might not approach you, but please feel free to approach me. I love talking with families about their children. Email is the easiest way to reach me. My schedule is crazy, so if you need to talk with me, it is best to make an appointment. It is hard to reach me by phone unless it is an expected phone call.

If we haven't met yet, I hope to meet you! Feel free to ask me questions if you have them!
