The language was offered under Foundation Course. Part I from 1976 headed by our present Secretary Dr. K.S. Lakshmi with her expertise in the language and was later taken over by Ms. Nirada Harendra. After a stint of four years it was subsequently taken over by Dr. Vasanti Rajagopalan in 1980 and continues till date. The strength has also risen from a nominal number of Pre Universitystudents to about 125 students in the undergraduate level.
