Project CAPER

The Collaboratory for Adapted Physical Education Research

Old Dominion University's Adapted Physical Education faculty and scholars participate Project CAPER, a multi-university Collaboratory featuring ODU, University of Utah, and University of Georgia faculty and scholars that is funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (USDE). This project is focused on preparing leadership personnel in the field of adapted physical education to serve as higher education faculty.

We are actively recruiting scholars to join Project CAPER for our First Cohort in 2023!

Mission

Project CAPER, funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, prepares leadership personnel in the field of adapted physical education to serve as higher education faculty, and train pre-service teachers and related service professionals appropriately to educate youth with disabilities.

The Collaboratory establishes a research and training partnership between faculty and scholars at three partner institutions: Old Dominion University, University of Utah, and University of Georgia.

What do we do?

The project provides a multi-dimensional training program that will train a minimum of 15 doctoral scholars in adapted physical education through tuition/stipend support, collaborative research endeavors with leading faculty, annual institutes, and monthly online seminars.
