September Minutes 2022
After the normal gab fest subsided, we actually got down to business. Funds from the July and August contests were funnelled into Ron Cota's briefcase and we remain solvent, although we are still awaiting the funds from June.
Guidelines for 2023 Sparky Events for HoSoFo
The Sparky event for HoSoFo is proving to be popular and will be a feature of the 2023 outdoor schedule. A few guidelines, primarily gleaned from the Flying Aces non-scale section of their rule book, were discussed and voted on. They are as follows:
Fuselages must be built up maintaining original cross sections
Structural changes may be made to incorporate a dethermalizer.
Original structure, including wing spars, may be "beefed-up" but not lightened. This includes adding wing spars but original spars must remain in correct position.
Dihedral per plan
Airfoils per plan
Rear motor anchor may be moved and aluminum tube used.
Spinners are optional. The front fuselage contours of the Sparky must be to plan but a conventional nose block and plug may be used.
Wheel diameter per plan
No limit on prop diameter or material but folders are not allowed.
No restriction on covering material
No limit on rubber
ROG or table top launch
Other Items
It was decided that E-36 will be added to the outdoor schedule for next year, number of times TBD.
Dennis Batty helped John O'Leary to clear out his modeling supplies. Dennis will organize the material and it will be made available to those interested. Not sure yet when, where, or how.
Indoor dates were proposed and are tentative pending church approval. The April contest might be at Forest Lake again. Dates are: Nov.13, Dec. 11, Jan. ?(I forgot) Feb, 19, March 12, and April 9.
The big news is that Tim Brockman has volunteered to create a web site for the MMAC. More to come on that.
Tim showed his Joe Williams Moffett which looks like a contendah. Dennis brought the fuselage of a Hank Cole Smoothie, and I brought my little Flying Aces Sportster a picture of which was in last month's write-up.
