About Us

Troop 153 Mission Statement

Troop 153 strives to instill in young men the Scouting principles in the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogans. Sponsored by St. Agnes Catholic Church in West Chester, PA, and founded in 1970, we support and encourage Catholic values, and we develop leadership, citizenship, and reverence in our Scouts. In our history, we are proud to have produced over 100 Eagle Scouts, and we are looking forward to many more.

Boy Scouts of America

For over 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant--if not more so--in helping our young men grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps young people develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that positively influence them through childhood and all throughout their adult lives. We provide youth with programs and activities that allow them to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, develop leadership skills, and reinforce ethical standards. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Scouting promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when our boys have hard decisions to make, they can resist peer pressure and make the right choices. Scouting is, simply put, the best organization for the development of boys into young men of character.
