MTSS

Multi-Tier System of Supports

This program is offered at CMS to provide intervention for students who need support in math.

We use a program called STAR. A universal screen is given at the beginning of the year, in December, and at the end of the school year to all students.

Students that score at the 40th percentile or higher (Tier 1) are considered to be at grade level.

Students that score between the 25th and 39th percentile are considered to be "on- watch" and will test every 3 weeks (progress monitoring). We monitor these students and their growth in math. If they are not showing improvement in their understanding, we then look into which intervention is most appropriate for the student.

Students that score between the 10th and 24th percentile (Tier 2) and between the 1st and 9th percentile (Tier 3) will receive the intervention that is offered. These students also test every 3 weeks to check for progress.

Our goal is for students to "fill in the gaps" with their learning and to experience success in math.
