Math Plus

We offer an intervention class at the middle school called Math Plus. This class is available to students who have gaps in their learning of mathematical concepts. We use data from State Assessments and STAR MATH testing to determine if a student is a candidate for this intervention.

Classroom instruction includes:

  • smaller student:teacher ratio so that instruction can be more individualized
  • math fact practice (10 - 15 minutes everyday)
  • use of the IXL program to target areas of weakness
  • games and activities to promote learning of basic skills

If your student is currently enrolled in Math Plus, we use the IXL website to help fill in some of the gaps in mathematical concepts that they are experiencing. Math Plus students have a username and password for IXL.

Students who struggle with math, tend to experience difficulties with basic math facts.

We use multiplication.com and free rice.com along with dice, cards, flashcards, activitity sheets and small group games to help practice and reinforce recall of basic facts.

I encourage students to extend this practice at home..... practice makes perfect!
