Radio Dechovka

Another interesting station on medium waves, a station I listen several times but not so much as my more favorite Oldenia. This station case has an interesting background. More than 15 years ago this frequency 792kHz was the home of the VoA Kavala with power of 500 kW towards E.Europe. Their signal was booming in Thessaloniki my town that it was as like beacon for testing radios and their nulls . In contrast the other VoA station from Rodos on 1260 was not always audible except after afternoons. After the collapse of the system before 2000 (?) a Greek pirate used the frequency to transmit old Greek songs of the 60s era.

Sometimes the station was off or possibly with minimal propagation leaving other signals to be heard . One of them is radio Dechovka . I was quite curious to listen to a station with German or just Germanic songs

Even later , more recently the pirate radio station seems not operating everyday , This allows me to listen to Dechovka even more easier with my radios even alone or with the signal enhancing loop that adds more than 25-30 db from its Q

Along that I have also found a little later (2-3 years ago?) Its parallel on 1233 kHz that is nearly alone in the frequency with much better reception on late afternoons and nights

Here are a few screenshots showing the reception as made on 5/4.Please click to watch the image in full :

214319 : The signal is clear from interference from nearby signals and the waterfall is also clear showing the typical good modulation. The ribbon on the bottom art is the signal history that can show the signal fading . even it is clear that can seem there is some co channel QRM or just convergence and divergence of signal due to ionospheric reasons The -86dbm is roughly S7 in typical communication receivers with S meter or ‘fair to moderate’ in SINPO terms

214919: This is the signal of 792 the best way to listen to it is via a portable radio with a loop. In this frequency there are two other stations : S Arabia al Quran al Karim and SER Sevilla As in the picture the signal in the bottom ribbon is quite jagged that is clear the signal has interference .Click to open that in another tab to watch the piture in full

Propagation wise As you can see above the signal is fair to good at 9.45 local time that is 18.45UTC. This is the way SDR play saves its CSV data For sure the levels can vary everyday day but this is a random reception

More station info

This is the infomation I found while searching the internet

Radio Dechovka is the people’s Choice online and FM radio station. They are Playing Soul, Funk, Jazz, Electronic, Blues and World music. They give you sounds like no-one else can. On-air since 2000 community station Eastside Radio broadcasts to the greater Czech Republic area and beyond. Radio Dechovka provide the best of specialist music, community and arts programs.

In contrast as far as I tested the station mostly airs ‘the music kind that is sounds to me as lively German folk music with only a few exceptions and short talk programs in Czech. The only difference is that the language of songs is different ! This can mean the station is very similar to Oltenia or R Rom Actualitata in terms of local music and kudos to both who still continue to support the music of their nation . There are IDs In between one or two songs of playback.
