AGM (Annual General Meeting) Weston U3A
The following stood down from the Committee at the AGM on Friday 18 May 2012:- Gordon Hobbs, Pam Murphy, & Pauline King. There were only three nominations who were automatically elected: Lesley Asman (Programme Secretary), Sylvia Grace (Social Account Treasurer), & Enuice Sycamore (Cashier). There were no motions proposed. The Committee elected Hazel Wren to be their Chairperson and Ian Ludbrook to be Vice Chairman.

The outgoing Chair, Pat Hase, asked for members to forward their views regarding circulating by email non-U3A matters, which were events or issues of likely interest to members. Please forward your preferences to the Business Secretary.

24 hours per day legal advice line for any problem members may have, personal or otherwise.

WORDS AND WIT 2012
A celebration of the spoken word in prose, poetry and public oratory, from the humorous to the philosophical, will be held in the New Council Chamber at Weston Town Hall from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday 31 May 2012.   Two hours of excellent entertainment in pleasant company.    Doors open at 1.30pm for a 2pm start.   

WELFARE
Hillary Chesters our Welfare Officer has sent out nearly 40 cards over the last few months to our members experiencing a bereavement or ill health. If you know any member in such a situation please inform Hillary at the Tuesday Coffee Morning or email

MEDITATION GROUP
This Group is being run temporarily by Les Medcraft until Peter Noyle returns in August 2012 - contact number for Les with Business Secretary

This Group is suspended until 30 August 2012.

NEW GROUPS STARTED
JAZZ WORKSHOP
David Bryan has started a new group to give members the opportunity to play Jazz.
The group aims to provide an opportunity for musicians to play jazz together.
Initially we are mainly guitars aiming to play in a swing style. Numbers are limited, particularly while the initial members are finding our feet.
