On August 28, 2010, the Tokachi International Education Circle voted to make the tiec2004 Yahoo! Group private. The vote, which was held at the TIEC Orientation/Welcome Gathering at Iwanai Nature Village, was 16 for, one against and three abstaining.

Any messages that a tiec2004 Yahoo group member sends to the listserv will not be made public nor should they be able to be indexed or viewable by non-members of the tiec2004 Yahoo group.

The message archives are now private. When someone visits the tiec2004 group on Yahoo Groups, unless they are a member and signed into Yahoo with the Yahoo ID that they use for the tiec2004 group, they will not be able to browse, search or see the message archives. The links and calendar are still public.

The listserv has been made private for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is the support functions that the TIEC and the tiec2004 listserv provide for members who are living and working in Tokachi. These people are usually far away from their accustomed cultures and spoken languages. In order to encourage members to discuss freely their concerns and to guarantee the fullest freedom of speech, it has been decided by a majority of current TIEC members to make the tiec2004 listserv private.

If you had previously used the tie2004 Yahoo group as a reference or had previously linked to messages on the listserv and still need access to or would like a copy of the messages, please contact the tiec2004 group owner and the group members will consider your situation and request. You may also apply for membership to the group however all membership requests are reviewed by listserv managers and there is the possibility that your request may be denied in order to protect the privacy of tiec2004 members.
