Anthony Starace, George Holmes University Professor of physics at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, died Sept. 5 2019, at the age of 74.

Roy Glauber, Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics at Harvard University and Adjunct Professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, passed away December 26 2018, at the age of 93. He was awarded one half of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence", with the other half shared by John L. Hall and Theodor W. Hänsch.

Martin Raymond Flannery, Regents' Professor Emeritus at the Department of Physics at Georgia Tech, died May 2, 2013, at the age of 72. Ray Flannery was awarded the 1998 Will Allis Prize for the Study of Ionized Gases, "For advancing the understanding of recombination processes, in particular for developing a microscopic theory of three-body ionic recombination; and for his novel applications of classical and quantum mechanical methods to the dynamics of atomic, molecular and ionic systems."
