Meeting minutes:

Chair Moore reminded everyone to contact him to be added to the TAMOC mailing list.

Hossein Sadeghpour presented a report on ITAMP and highlighted the new Youtube channel, ITAMPhysics.

Richard Pratt reported that there was about $4 M available in quantum information science (QIS) and $2 M in computational

physics, both of which might be relevant to TAMO physics interests.

Peter Reynolds from the ARO introduced Paul Baker, who encouraged all interested applicants to send him white papers.

About $5 M is committed (available?), including experiment.

From the DoE, Jeff Krause reported that the FY 2012 request is up 25 percent, but emphasized that is a request.

For the AFOSR, Tatjana Curcic reported that DoD total research budget is of the order of $2 B. Her office only allocates

pure (6.1) funds, i.e. basic research. Currently supporting QIS, femtosecond lasers. Ultrafast will be a new program.

She promoted the National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellowship (NSSEFF) program, a highly selective program that awards for 5 years at $850 K for professors.

Klaus Bartschat and Ivan Deutsch discussed the TAMOP meeting to be held in Arlington, VA at NSF HQ on 8/18-19, 2011.

They have 80-90 responses to their questionnaire. Carl Williams, from the audience, asked who is the intended audience?

It is an important factor, he emphasized, in how the report is written. He encouraged the meeting organizers to consider who will

read the report that the TAMOP meeting will generate, ultimately.

The meeting was adjourned promptly at 9 PM.
