Knights,
Our God does not claim goodness. He does not claim that there must be a
balance. These are the petty concerns of God's lessers.
But.
He does claim divinity. And He does require absolute loyalty in those who
serve Him.
Austinian's militant priests will tell you that their father seeks only the
goodness of the human heart. That every man and woman is afforded the right
to free living and free enterprise and to choose.
But for every opulent dome in the Golden City, you also have seen the
starving beggars clustered around the dumps peddling their wares. You have
seen the Emperor and his procession, his host of golden knights, glance with
parsimony at the sick and elderly.
The clergy of Kwainin, the mad monks and the insect-wing librarians; they will
tell you that the balance must be upheld, along with the thousands
of years of bloodshed, the millennia of slit throats and infant dashing and
rape.
The balance must be upheld mustn't it? The Thalosian child must starve and
his body must be emaciated and his wrists must be bird-bone frail. The
elderly man's throat must be given the red smile so that his small earning
is doled to the brigand to whom honor is an antiquated relic.
I have served God for over a century. I grew in the shadow of a great man
and leeched from him every nugget of wisdom I could, but it was not until I
grew out of that shadow that I saw my own.
I do not promise you that my God is kind. I do not promise you, falsely,
that you will be rewarded come Finality.
You are here because you are a petty and insignificant ant. You are
infinitesimal. Yea, you are a disgusting mortal to whom the act of
breathing is a gift unto you through your Better. And yet, if you are here
you have the power of a choice that will free you from your pitiful state.
So that the myriad false deities become not gods but the One God, from whom
all dowries of life and pursuit are allotted. When Austinian and Kwainin
are slain, the Prophecy is fulfilled, and a new apogee will reign.
The starving child will be accoutered with ration and armor and sword. He
will be expected to work and to do his share -- he will not leech from
society but will contribute to it, and in so doing he will become valuable,
as highly esteemed as any mortal deserves to be.
Should a brigand dare to accost an old man, like me, then he should be
calmly set down and explained the Principles, of Brotherhood among men, of
Unity among civilizations, of Finality in God.
He should be sent to hell for disturbing the order of things.
By living in God's Shadow, by helping the myriad to become the One, you will
have become apart of something great in the stead of your petty and
insignificant life. Finality: in God, every morality is found.
Give your faith to Him because He is the greatest of them all.
And in His reflection, you may become the greatest of His creation.
