Voice communications is not permitted on UHF CB channels 22 and 23.
Telemetry and telecommand is not permitted on any channel other than UHF CB channels 22 and 23.
Telemetry is obtaining measurements and relaying them for recording or display at a distant point and telecommand is electronic remote control of equipment for example in monitoring water levels in dams, controlling equipment such as irrigation pumps and opening and closing gates.
The newer 80 channel UHF CB frequencies which exist with the older 40 channel UHF CB Radio frequencies. Both older 40 channel and the newer 80 channel UHF CB Radios can be used in Australia.

UHF CB Radio in New Zealand is called PRS Radio.
CB radio licenses (HF 26 MHz AM and SSB) or Personal Radio Service licenses (UHF 476 MHz to 477 MHz FM) are no longer required under the New Zealand general user radio license. This is like the Australian class radio license that allows any person to use CB radios without the need to apply for a license. A license is required to establish a CB repeater station. No license is needed to talk through a CB repeater station.
