Interactive Ministry Resources

Owen Shelley was passionate about Children's Ministry for over 60 years and worked as a Children's Missioner with Scripture Union for more than 30 years. He left us on the morning of Saturday 2nd August 2014, to be with his Lord and Saviour. He lived to serve Jesus and to share the good news of salvation to thousands of children throughout New South Wales and beyond. He is greatly missed by his 8 children, 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and all members of the family. He was commenting the night before he died how fortunate he had been that he has never lost any of his children. We have now lost him but are comforted by the knowledge that he is now with his Lord. Doctors believe that he died due to heart failure. He was 87. His beloved wife Daphne joined him in Heaven on Australia Day, 25th Jan 2018 (age 88).

In recent years he had partnered with his son, Stephen, to create ministry resources suitable for use in the new digital age. Stephen was a Christian school teacher for 11 years at a school in Sydney’s west and is now the Technology Manager at Sydney Girls High School where his role includes teaching teachers how to utilise technology with their classes. Together, they have updated Owen's existing library of resources and produced new resources that have been designed to be used with data projectors and interactive whiteboards.

Owen never stopped being a light in the darkness. He was still working on their latest project, updating the A to Z of Ministry with Children, the night before he died. Stephen has subsequently completed this project in Owen's stead. Stephen started Shelley and Son so that Owen's skills, knowledge and insight in children's ministry would not be lost. He is so glad that they were able to produce so much while they still had time.

Owen's last contribution to Children's Ministry was to write a guide to telling Bible Stories. It was in the editing process when he passed away and he had been very keen to see it produced. We have now made it available here to view online or download: How to Tell Bible Stories by Owen Shelley.

Owen was also working on his autobiography. It is not complete but is an interesting read that takes you through his childhood into adulthood and his early ministry years. It is available here to view online or download: Life and Times an autobiography of Owen Shelley.

At the end of his autobiography we have included some stories about his shenanigans shared by others that have travelled or ministered with Owen at one time or another. If you have anything interesting that you would like to contribute to this section, please email it to shelleyandson@hotmail.com.

From this site you can obtain the resources that Owen Shelley and his son Stephen have produced.
