The 02 students at SRHS took part in an illegal dump site clean up sponsored by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Municipality of Shelburne on June 7 at Shore Road. This site was purchased by the Conservancy of Canada and needed to be cleaned up. The students cleaned out a trailer full of metal, including an old oil barrel, water heater and bed springs. There were layers and layers of garbage bags filled with everything from fish hooks, rope, bathroom supplies, clothing and footwear as well as many glass bottles. This garbage filled a half ton truck! There were also several old computers. The garbage had probably been there for years! Remember that most waste can be put out at your curb or taken to a depot to be disposed of. If you're not sure, call the Town of Shelburne or municipality for clarification.
