Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award

On Monday, November 2, 2015, recent Shelburne High graduate Amie Riley received her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex.To finish the Award Amie completed 122 hours of physical activity, 119 hours of volunteer work, 125 hours of skill development, and completed a 60 km back-country hiking trip.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the world’s leading youth achievement Award. It is youth-led, adult-guided and for ages 14-24. For each Award level, the participant completes four different sections: Skill, Service, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey. Gold level participants also undertake an additional fifth section called the Residential Project.
