FAQ

How to I setup the CT-30 Thermostat App?

  1. Give your Wifi thermostat a static IP within your network.

  2. Start the Thermostat android app. If you have not yet assigned a thermostat it will directly show the "Thermostat Addresses" page (after showing the "what's new" page). If you do not see that page, use menu>Thermostats to get there.

  3. Press "New". Notice that you can have multiple thermostats.

  4. Type the static thermostat address you defined above. Make sure to include the "http://" as the thermostat is a mini web server. Press "Update", then "back".

How can I verify I'm using the correct address?

  • "menu>Thermostat>Device Web Page" will launch your web browser. If it shows the Radio Thermostat's page (or the CT-30 Server status page) you've got the correct address for the thermostat (or server).

I always get "Connection Timed Out" when using the CT-30 app

The app (or your phone) is unable to reach the CT-30 thermostat.

    • Check your connection to your network, perhaps it's not properly connected.

    • Check the CT-30's web page at the same address that you used to configure the CT-30 app using a web browser. The thermostat may not be properly configured. Re-registering it with your network, or resetting it will often solve the problem.

    • Any other symptoms - please ask!

I occasionally get "Connection Timed Out" when using the thermostat app

  • The CT-30/3M-50 web server is not very powerful and gets overwhelmed with to many requests. If you hit "retry" you will usually get through.

  • My CT-30 Server buffers the CT-30 to lessen the load on it, you'll get more reliable responses using it.

How can I automate the thermostat?

  • AutomationManager (paid app) when running as a server will recognize and incorporate this RadioThermostat device so that it can be controlled directly, remotely, and using the automation rules.
