Over the past fifty years, R. Robert Mutrie has compiled more than 1,000 Ontario Pioneers Genealogies featuring some of the founding families who arrived in Southwestern Ontario during the late 1700’s and early 1800's. Biographical summaries of the pioneers may be found by clicking an alphabetical letter to the right. More will be added and announced below and in "New Additions".

Available genealogies may be ordered and will be sent by email. Each compilation starts with a biography of the first pioneer couple who made their mark during the province’s formative years. The genealogies then track the descendant generations through the 1800’s down to those born during the early decades of the twentieth century wherever they lived in North America. The reader may be able to find a grandparent or great-grandparent in these pages linking them to their first ancestor in Ontario.

“A truly remarkable family chronicle”

“Your knowledge of pioneer people and places is appreciated”

“This is the most detailed study of my Canadian ancestors I have seen”

Much more than just a family tree, each Ontario Pioneers Genealogy includes fully sourced biographical and genealogical information. The names, vital dates, and residency of descendants and their spouses are an integral part of the ancestral compilations. When found, earlier eighteenth century colonial or European ancestral information is also included.

Over the years, R. Robert Mutrie travelled extensively while developing these genealogies and found thousands of primary sources in dozens of libraries, archives and websites. While the emphasis is on documentary sources, some biographies also include information from hard-to-find secondary resources and out-of-print books. To find your ancestral genealogy, click the first letter of the surname in the sidebar at the right — for example, for Smith, click Settlers “S”. To order one or more of these genealogies, click on the “Add to Cart” tab to the right of the listing.

Your ancestral genealogies will be sent to you express by e-mail. This “one-stop” resource means you don’t have to spend hundreds of hours online and in libraries to track down just a few ancestors. Each genealogy can be ordered individually.
