Jonathan Bower's 2002 Website Archived

Note: This Archival does not include much of the original formatting, such as color backgrounds which appeared on the original site, but I have copied all of the text, making only minor spelling corrections, and tried to keep as much of the original formatting as possible. I have also tried to maintain all the links and navigation as near as possible to the original. All links "work" but due to some of the pages being defunct sometimes lead to archived pages (off site).

Originally I had only archived the webpages related to googology but I've decided to archive the entirety of the website including all the pages related to polytopy.

The primary purpose of this archive is to preserve the "founding document" of modern googology. It originally appeared as an aol hometown website, but when aol shut down the project the site vanished and Bowers moved his site to another server. Thankfully it was archived on the way back machine. For the few images that weren't saved on the way back machine Jonathan Bowers personally sent me the missing files, so this is likely the most complete version of the website available online.

This document is important because it was the first published description of Array Notation on the web, which spurred on the emergence of the so called googology community, and was also where Bowers first introduced his Polychoron short names.

Welcome to Polyhedron Dude's Homepage

Who is Polyhedron Dude: My name is Jonathan Bowers, Polyhedron Dude is one of many characters I've invented. My primary studies are polychora, polyhedra, polytopes in general, spaces of 4 or more dimensions, and super huge numbers. Some of my hobbies include computer graphics, drawing cartoons, polyhedron model making, inventing board games (would love to make video games some day), and collecting chemical elements. I've also done some serious study on the solar system, elements, exotic fruits, and Heaven. I'm from Tyler, Texas - born on Nov. 27, 1969 - and have an M.S. Degree in Mathematics. Last modified Oct. 17, 2002. Latest additions include extended array notation rules and new number names in the gaggol group.

Following is a list of various topics that I plan to write web pages on, those with links are ready to view. Those without links are planned in the future.

Uniform Polychora - Here is my web site on the fascinating four dimensional versions of the uniform polyhedra, included are the 29 categories, and several computer generated images of the cross sections.

Polytwisters - These are unusual 4-D figures with swirling symmetries.

Polyhedron Short Names - This is a picture list of the uniform polyhedra, with their short names. There are 7 pages (grouped in pairs).

Symmetries - Here will be a list of 3-D and 4-D symmetry groups.

Dice of the Dimensions - Here will be a list of fair dice in dimensions 2 through 4.

Uniform Polytetra - This page will describe the 5-D uniform polytopes.

Illion Numbers - Here is a list of numbers with -illion endings, not just stopping at a millillion, but continuing well past a googolduplex! an example is "femtillion" = 10^3 quadrillion 3.

My Array Notation - Here is an introduction to my array notation to represent super huge numbers.

Infinity Scrapers - Here will be information on some of these super huge finite numbers, numbers which are so unspeakably huge, they pass up even the largest numbers in mathematical literature including Graham's Number and Conway's 3 - 3 - 3 - 3.

Heaven - Here will be some fascinating thoughts of what Heaven may be like. According to the Bible, it's far more awesome than most people realize, and may include access to higher dimensional spaces.

Why Does God Exist? - Here will be a logical explanation that seems to explain the very reason God exists - this explanation goes to the depths of truth, existence, and meaning itself.

The Fourth Dimension - Here will be a detailed description of what a four dimensional world would be like.

Beyond the Dimensions - An introduction to whats beyond infinite dimensional space - super dimensions, trimensions, etc.
