Little bit about professional life

With a total experience of about 8 years, I bring experience of 4+ years on table, in the domain of innovation, TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and intellectual properties (patents). I have developed executive awareness program on innovation and case studies, besides developing, participating and training/co-training other training modules for various corporate trainings. These experiences have enriched me to understand that - when someone asks for a "sharpener" he/she is actually asking for "a sharper pencil" that is difference between what customers want and what they say or ask for. Also, sometime back I coined the idea of measuring innovation and different metrics.

I am a registered patent agent with the patent office of India, and drafted patents for various country filing. With the beginning of my career path in intellectual property (IP) and innovation I worked on TRIZ and improved client IP resulting in more than two-fold improvement for most inventions. I learnt how cycle of new product development works, theorized on how data-mining for intellectual property development is a boon, and why and how to use technology forecasting as a tool for new product development. It was at that time I realized that coming up with ideas is great however what matters more is how one strategically align them to overall business philosophy and innovation efforts.

I envision an organization as a garland held by two invaluable beads 'marketing and innovation'. As Peter Drucker said - Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. However, one more point to add here is – the thread, the invisible bond touching and transforming every element from a bead to a garland. The thread is ‘strategy’ – which connects to every aspects of business and makes the garland ‘a garland’, which is attractive and entrusting. With this idea I have worked on strategic innovation and endeavour to explore it more with financial exploitation of IP and its protection.

I am a visionary and researcher. Some of my ideas and technology forecasting include, with the year in bracket (please refer to My Projects for details) –

  1. Designed a solar bicycle at an age of 17 (1997)

  2. Conceptually designed a device as iPod in (1999) with 5 friends

  3. Gave idea of cluster computing (1999-2001)

  4. Artificial Intelligence based project published in national level journal (2001-02)

  5. Forecasted Online document editing is coming next (2003-04)

  9. Technology forecasting for Medical wound healing (2007)

  10. Coined idea of measuring ideas on various metrics (2007)

  11. Researching on relation between Indian classical music and spirituality (2008-)

My past professional experiences have given me the assets to quickly learn and implement my learnings. My consulting experience has given me an edge in different business areas including but not limited to generation of marketing ideas besides product design and development using various innovation methodologies. This experience has further exposed me to a more operational part of a business, learning how to structure problems and evaluate different business units’ current and future needs. For example, one of the marketing initiatives resulted in four-fold business improvement for one of our services. I am six sigma black belt completed my 23-day training in 2007 from BMG India and have been involved in process definition, implementation and improvements for clients.
