If you're looking around the website to see what's new, check the update list below.

(most recent first)

17 November 2023: New map link

Until now all toponym records have had links to Index Mundi (IM) & Wikimapia (WM) maps to show the place location. A third link, to Open Street Map (OS) will now be added to new records. See Nyong for the first example. Regrettably, Wikimapia is no longer fully functional, but good maps can still be seen using its links to those that are not directly sourced from Google.

4 March 2023: Two new pages added

Two new pages on Binomina & Power Stations have been added to Places in Perspective.

An 'A to Z' has been added to the Community toponyms section.

11 November 2021: Subpage buttons

Subpage buttons have been added to the foot of all pages on this site because on some older mobile devices the menu system does not work.

25 September 2021: GPN New Site completed

The conversion of GPN from the original Google Classic site to the new multisite has now been completed.

19 July 2021: Toponyms - Region Satellite Sites

23 October 2020: Toponyms - Region Satellite Sites

Migration and update from the 'classic' site has been completed for: Ahafo, North East, Oti, Savannah, Upper West, Western North.

Quick links are on the Regions page.

13 August 2020: The Future of Ghana Place Names

Google has announced that all 'classic sites', such as GPN, will be deactivated, as from September 2021. The only way to avoid disruption of service is to convert such sites to the 'new Google Sites' format. Unfortunately this cannot be done for GPN because conversion cannot be done for sites which have more than 1000 pages, and GPN has in excess of 2000.
