DIVISION I

DESIGN

This Division is eligible for The Award of Design Excellence, which is offered and may be awarded to the highest scoring exhibit in the Design Division entered by single exhibitor. The exhibit must be a blue ribbon winner with a score of 95 or higher.

SECTION A - INVITING VIEWS

Classes 1--3 are eligible for the Table Artistry Award. To be eligible for this award, classes permit designer’s choice of fresh or dried plant materials and other components. Tables will be provided and skirted by the Staging Committee. There must be three (3) classes with four (4) entries each.

CLASS 1 - Come for Cards

An Exhibition Type I Luncheon Table staged in front of a beige wall using a frame/s. Exhibit space allowed is 40” high and 30” wide with 30” maximum depth on a 33”x33” table skirted in ivory. Overlay may be provided by the exhibitor.

CLASS 2 - Cocktails at Five

A Functional Cocktail Table for two or more staged on a round table 25” high and 20” in diameter, skirted in ivory. Exhibitor may provide overlay.

CLASS 3 - Canoe for Two

A Functional Alfresco Luncheon Table set for two staged on a table 18½” wide by 14 ½” deep, skirted in beige burlap by the Staging Committee. Tables will be exhibited inside a vintage canoe. Overlay may be provided by the exhibitor.

SECTION B - INSPIRING VIEWS

Classes 4--6 are eligible for the Petite Award. The designer has complete freedom to choose plant materials and other components. All classes will be staged on a raised table skirted in ivory by the Staging Committee. The schedule may specify additional staging. There must be three (3) classes with four (4) entries each.

CLASS 4 - Garden Vistas

A Small Design not exceeding 8” in height, width, or depth. A background of appropriate proportion to be provided by the exhibitor. Overlay may be provided by the exhibitor.

CLASS 5 - Patriotic Vistas

A Small Reflective Design not exceeding 8” in height, width, or depth. A background of appropriate proportion to be provided by the exhibitor. Overlay may be provided by exhibitor.

CLASS 6 - Natural Vistas

A Miniature Plaque Design with height, width or depth not exceeding 5". Staged on an easel provided by the Staging Committee.

SECTION C - VILLAGE VIEWS

Classes 7--10 are eligible for the Designer’s Choice Award. To be eligible, the designer has complete freedom to choose plant materials and other components. The schedule may specify staging and may specify a Creative Design. Tables provided and skirted by the Staging Committee. There must be at least three (3) classes with four (4) entries each.

CLASS 7- Inspirational Vistas

A Creative Illuminary Design staged using a black niche 22½“ wide and 36” high with 12½” side extensions, to be provided by the Staging Committee, staged on a table skirted in ivory. Depth allowed is 20”. Overlay may be provided by the exhibitor.

CLASS 8 - Creek-side Vistas: Spring Awakening

A Creative Duo Design staged on a 33" x 33" table skirted in ivory. A two-class unit made in one container by one exhibitor. Front side of entry is Class 8. No height or width requirement. Overlay may be provided by the exhibitor.

CLASS 9 - Creek-side Vistas: Autumn Retreat

A Creative Duo Design. Reverse side of Class 8 is Class 9. (See pages 200-201 NGC Handbook for Flower Shows 2007 Revised Edition for clarification of Duo Design.)

CLASS 10 - Welcoming Vistas

A Wreath Design staged on a wall trellis in front of a beige burlap background. Wreath size is limited to 18” in height or width.
