AWARDS AND RIBBONS

The Standard System of Awarding will be used. It allows for:

One First Place – Blue Ribbon, scoring 90 or more.

One Second Place – Red Ribbon, scoring 85 or more.

One Third Place – Yellow Ribbon, scoring 80 or more.

One or more Honorable Mentions – White ribbon, scoring 75 or more.

Top Exhibitor Awards must score 95 or more. The Scale of Points to be used for designs are the ones appearing in the Handbook for Flower Shows, 2007 revised edition, on page 303.

The AWARD OF DESIGN EXCELLENCE is a division award that is offered to the highest scoring exhibit in the entire Design Division entered by a single exhibitor. The exhibit must be a blue ribbon winner with a score of 95 or above.

The DESIGNER'S CHOICE AWARD is a section award and allows exhibitor complete freedom to choose plant materials and other components within the NGC policies. There must be a minimum of three (3) classes with four (4) entries in each class.

ELIGIBLE SECTION: Division I, Section C, Classes 7, 8, 9, & 10.

The TABLE ARTISTRY AWARD is a section award of classes of Functional and/or Exhibition Table designs. There must be three (3) classes with four (4) entries in each class. Eligible classes permit designer’s choice of fresh and/or dried plant materials and other components.

ELIGIBLE SECTION: Division I, Section A, Classes 1, 2, & 3.

The PETITE AWARD may be given to a section of Miniature or Small designs. Plant material may be fresh, all dried or a combination of fresh and dried. There must be three (3) classes with four (4) entries in each class.

ELIGIBLE SECTION: Division I, Section B, Classes 4, 5, & 6.

The SWEEPSTAKES AWARD may be awarded to the exhibitor winning the largest number of blue ribbons in the Design Division or the Horticulture Division. Red ribbons will be counted only in event of a tie. The Awards Chairman and General Flower Show Chairman will make tabulation. Two are offered.

HORTICULTURE SCALE OF POINTS

The Scale of Points to be used for Horticulture are the ones appearing in the Handbook for Flower Shows, 2007 revised edition, on Pages 298 – 302.

The ARBOREAL AWARD is a section award and may be awarded to an exhibit of FRESH plant material in a section of named specimens composed of tree or shrub branches. Specimen scoring 95 or above. Cut specimens not to be less than 18" and not more than 30" in length. If dwarf variety, cut specimens not to be less than 4" or more than 10" in length. Both must have several nodes.

ELIGIBLE SECTION: Division II, Section A.

The AWARD OF MERIT is a section award and may be awarded to the named blue ribbon winning exhibit of FRESH plant material in each of a designated number of sections. ELIGIBLE CLASSES in each section must have a common characteristic. A total of three (3) will be offered and awarded, if merited.

ELIGIBLE SECTION: Division II, Sections B,C, & G.

The GROWER'S CHOICE AWARD is a section award for flowering container grown plants, foliage container grown plants and combination plantings. ELIGIBLE CLASSES in each section must have some common characteristic. Two (2) will be offered and awarded, if merited.

ELIBIBLE SECTION: Division II, Sections D & H.

The AWARD OF HORTICULTURAL EXCELLENCE may be awarded to an exhibit of FRESH plant material judged as the finest in the entire Horticulture Division. The exhibit must be a blue ribbon winner with a score of 95 or above.


SPECIAL EXHIBITS SCALE OF POINTS

The Scale of Points to be used for Special Exhibits are the ones appearing in the Handbook for Flower Shows, 2007 revised edition, on page 304.

The EDUCATIONAL AWARD is a section award and may be offered and awarded, if merited, to an exhibit designed to instruct the public in some phase of National Garden Club and/or State Objectives.

ELIGIBLE SECTION: Division III, Section 1, Exhibits 1, 2, and 3.
