HUDSON 4-6-4 TYPE

J-2 CLASS - The Boston & Albany received five Hudsons from Schenectady in 1928 (J-2a 600-604), five more in 1930 (J-2b 605-609) and ten from Lima in 1931 (J-2c 610-619). They differed from the New York Central Hudsons by having 75 inch drivers, 4 inches less than the NYC's in deference to the B&A's grades. The smaller drivers resulted in the B&A Hudsons producing a little more starting tractive force than the NYC's Hudson's. The square sand box that was later installed identified the B&A's Hudsons. All twenty Hudsons are shown below in number order.
