OCTOBER Edition

RED RIBBON WEEK

SHMS has been celebrating Red Ribbon Week by decorating doors and participating in dress up days. Congratulations to Mrs. Ruth's class! They won first place in the door decorating contest! One student said, "We can always be ourselves in Mrs. Ruth's class, so we should take crazy face pictures." That's what Mrs Ruth did. She said, "I decided to make a circular picture collage and turn it into a crazy face. It did take some time to cut out the letters and glue pictures on the circle piece of paper, but it was not difficult at all to complete. We were all extremely excited when we found out we won! We definitely had some awesome competition. Everyone did a fantastic job decorating their classroom doors. We are grateful for everyone that voted for our door!"

Their first place door is pictured to the right. You can view all of the SHMS decorated doors on our district's Facebook page.

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

Help Stop the Spread

Help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, like COVID-19, by avoiding close contact with people who are sick; covering cough and sneeze; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth; and washing your hands with soap and water. If you are sick, you can prevent spreading sickness by staying home and taking care of yourself.

How to Wear a Cloth Face Covering

Cloth face coverings should—

  • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face

  • be secured with ties or ear loops

  • allow for breathing without restriction

  • be able to be laundered and machine dried
