January Edition

SPELLING & MATH BEE COMPETITION

by Paulina Rodriguez (8th) & Ella Carlisle (7th)

January 21st we competed in the Dunklin County Spelling and Math Bee! We started off with a short bus ride to SEMO in Kennett, MO. Once we arrived at SEMO, we were greeted and given name tags with numbers on them, escorted to the waiting area, then instructed to take our test. All Math Bee competitors were given an hour to complete their test. After we finished taking our test, the Spelling Bee students went to take their test. Afterwards, Mr. Mauricio came in to announce the winners. We were so excited when we heard that Natalie Branum placed third in the 5th and 6th grade Math Bee, and that Lydia Smallman placed third in 5th and 6th grade Spelling Bee. Finally, Mr.Mauricio treated all the students to lunch and dessert at El Patron in Senath, MO.

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Help Stop the Spread

Help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, like COVID-19, by avoiding close contact with people who are sick; covering cough and sneeze; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth; and washing your hands with soap and water. If you are sick, you can prevent spreading sickness by staying home and taking care of yourself.

How to Wear a Cloth Face Covering

Cloth face coverings should—

  • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face

  • be secured with ties or ear loops

  • allow for breathing without restriction

  • be able to be laundered and machine dried
