Charger Singers

Charger Singers is for students, no matter the age, who are beginner singers at Hamilton High School. The aim in Charger Singers is to contribute to students' creative and original thought, social growth, performance opportunities, and love of learning, through music specifically made for students experiencing their first time singing in a mixed High School Choir Ensemble.

Throughout the year we will be developing our sound by Establishing Connections, Describing Music, and Performing Music to express not only how music impacts our lives, but also how we can share music with those around us.

Rehearsal Expectations

-Be on time and be prepared

We have so much to get through and so little time! Make the most of every minute you have in class, that way we can accomplish astounding things.

-Actively and consistently PARTICIPATE!

Only by having every single voice sound together can we constantly improve our sound. By practicing everyday and learning the repertoire we can accomplish larger and harder works than you may have originally imagined. If there is a valid health reason why you are unable to participate a note of explanation from a parent, the health office or an administrator is needed. Verbal excuses WILL NOT be permitted.

-Respect and support one another.

Professionalism and a respect for one another's ideas and contributions is needed for this class to be a success. Remember, the way you rehearse is the way you perform! Working together is KEY!

-Be POSITIVE!!!

The success of the choir depends on what you as a member bring to table. By staying positive we can become better musicians by learning from each other. Negative energy contributes no forward motion to becoming a better learner of music.

ALSO

There is NO food, candy, gum, or beverages allowed in class or on stage.  Water bottles (with CLEAR WATER ONLY) should be brought to class, but are not allowed on stage.  If a student is eating or chewing gum during a rehearsal, all points for the day will be lost.  If a student is eating or chewing gum during a concert, they will automatically lose ONE FULL LETTER GRADE

Things To Look For!

VOICE LESSONS:

-ALL CHOIR MEMBERS are required to complete at least 1 lesson with Ms. Plamann before the end of TERM ONE. Your first lesson can be with 2 other students, but lessons after that will mostly be one-on-one. We need to get to know you and your voice and, especially if you’ve never worked with us, you also need to get to know us a little better to learn more about the proper techniques to use while singing.  Your lesson will occur during the school day, in a 20-minute time slot during advisement, 4th hour, lunch or after school (if necessary).  If you miss a lesson, you have until the end of the Term to make it up, so be responsible!

SECTIONALS:

-Due to shorter classes and a large program, there MIGHT require a sectional rehearsal during  advisement once in awhile to make up for lost time.  We’ll let you know in advance so you can plan accordingly.  Thanks for your patience!!

More opportunities for performance: Synergy Show Choir (Fall & Winter/Spring), Singing the National Anthem at sporting events, Singing in Wisconsin (Fall), Carthage College Choral Fest (Fall), Musical (Feb.-May), Solo and Ensemble (March), London Trip (December), and Community Performances throughout the year!
