Physical Science

I enjoyed physical science this year because the material that we learned was interesting and fun sometimes even. I am grateful that I am able to learn more about the ins and outs of different concepts. I am excited to tie in the information I learned I learned this year into my next year's science class.

Assignments from 1st Semester

Skittle Isotope Determination Project

Erin Howard - Skittle Isotope Determination Lab

In the first semester we learned about isotopes. So with this activity we used skittles to find different statistics about the skittles in the bag. It was very fun to combine what we were learning with something more relatable in the real world.

Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons Worksheet Activity

Since we learned about the parts of atoms and the periodic table, we practiced identifying how much of each component each Element has. I really enjoyed learning about atoms because they are the building block of everything, it was fascinating how complete but simple something so small can be.

Chemical Reactions Project

Erin Howard - Chemical Rections

In the second semester we learned more about chemical reactions. So for this project we had to list the different kinds of chemical reactions and then relate them to real world scenarios. For me this was one of my favorite units because I love earning more about things that we do in our daily lives. It is always cool to learn something new about the world we live in.

Also, we learned about solubility in the second semester. We learned about the different types of solubility and that different substances have different solubility levels. So this activity we practiced determining the different solubility levels and solved for data about different elements and compounds.
