Welcome to our class! I am so excited to be teaching your child this year! I’d like to begin by telling you a little about myself. My name is Amy Blom and I am THRILLED to be entering my twelfth year teaching here in Byron! It has been an absolute joy to work in a district with such dedicated, passionate professionals in an incredibly supportive, inclusive community! I grew up in Rochester, but have lived in Byron for the last 20 years. I have three children who are my pride and joy; Alex, who is a Junior at U of M (Duluth) studying Mechanical Engineering, Emma, who is a Junior at MSU (Mankato) studying social work, and Sam, who is a 10th grader here in Byron. I am very blessed to be married to someone as passionate about kids and education as I am. My husband, Justin is a fifth grade teacher here in Byron. In my free time, I like to read, hike, bike, and spend time with friends and family. In my free time, I like to read, run, hike, kayak, bike, and spend time with friends and family.

This school year will be an exciting one for all us as we explore the wonderful world of kindergarten! I have big goals for all my students, not only to grow academically, but also socially and emotionally. Kindness, empathy, and generosity will be high on our list of skills learned and practiced throughout the year. I also believe that creating a "classroom family" atmosphere where children feel safe to take risks without a fear of failing, where everyone feels valued and cared for, and where we all truly believe that "teamwork makes the dream work" is the KEY to success in all areas. I look forward to working closely with you, knowing that parents are my student’s first and most important teachers and that your support and collaboration will help ensure success for your child! It’s going to be a GREAT year!
