The show must go on(line)! Join us in creating a movie version of High School Musical.
TENTATIVE 2020/2021 Schedule:
Cast and Crew Musical Informational Meeting during FLEX:
Wednesday, 12/9/2020 during 1st flex: 10:30-11:05
**To be involved in the show, you should be available most days of the week starting the beginning of January until 5:15 or 6:00 and then until 7:30 after Spring Break. We will start with rehearsals on Zoom and then plan to film to musical at rehearsals after Spring Break. We will also try to get creative with rehearsals to meet the needs of all cast, crew, and directors. Even though this show is currently planned for film production, please reserve the following dates: April 22-24.
1. The two forms above must be filled out in order to audition, along with $60 Activities Fee (checks should be made out to SVMS with DRAMA on the memo line and mailed to SVMS ATTN: Erica Gardner 4725 South View Lane Edina, MN 55424)
2. All students will submit a Flipgrid of themself singing a song from the musical for their audition- the more you can show us you ARE the character (characterization, movement, voice, intonation, etc.), the better the audition!
SING:
Plan to sing about 30 seconds to 1 minute of the song you're preparing...no one will sing the entire song. IT MUST BE A SONG FROM THE SHOW.
Leads: Students interested in lead roles are expected to sing a solo or prepare a duet.
Ensemble: If you're not interested in a lead role, you may sing with a recording via the MTI link or another recording of your choice (feel free to use any online resource to access the lyrics).
DANCE:
Students will not be expected to dance at auditions, but we would LOVE to see a prepared basketball routine for anyone with basketball skills!! The JOCKS will be a specialized group of ensemble.
Feel free to show us your skills on a Flipgrid submission in addition to your singing audition.
ACT (at callbacks-TENTATIVE): Actors will be given scripts to rehearse at callbacks to see dynamics between different characters. Scripts CAN be used in the audition.
Callbacks (on Zoom) Date TBD:
Please read everything about callbacks:
1. Please know a callback does not mean a lead or even a named part, but that we liked what we heard and saw and want to see/hear you again.
2. You will each sing again for us at the beginning of callbacks. Please plan on moving for us while you sing.
3. Some of you will be asked to sing again (and maybe again).
4. Some of you will be given a script to prepare a scene from and perform during callbacks.
5. Everyone who auditions WILL be in the show and should plan on attending our 1st ALL cast and crew meeting.
