The Language Arts block (ELA) has many components. During this time, students are learning Reading, Writing, and Spelling skills. Our block consists of a whole-group lesson that includes decoding skills, comprehension, vocabulary and spelling/morphology. We have Small Group Stations daily, where students rotate through four stations, spending 15 minutes at each station. The stations are:
Group: Students meet with teacher to work on various skills and/or read a leveled reader or novel to practice fluency and comprehension skills
AR: Students read independently
Word Work: Students complete sheets relevant to daily skill and/or weekly spelling/morphology words
Chromebook Work: Students work on writing, or IXL assigned skills
Assessments: Students will take assessments over the Reading skills throughout the modules.
Other grades will be from Reading skill sheets, writing assignments, spelling/morphology, and IXL skill completion.
