No sharp edges or dangerous protrusions.
All body panels securely attached.
Bonnet catches operate properly.
Side rails or running board sides are enclosed to avoid entanglement.
Seat is secure and approved.
Vehicle number is clear and easy to read.
Suspension is tight with no visible cracks.
Chassis complies with minimum ground clearance โ 100mm (โfence post testโ).
๐ง Mechanical Check
Wheels of approved construction.
Kingpins and wheel bearings in good, serviceable condition.
No oil or fuel leaks.
Exhaust securely fitted and directed away from driver and bystanders.
Fuel lines mechanically secured at all joints.
Two throttle return springs present on engine.
Throttle opens fully and returns freely (test with driver seated, engine off).
Engine securely mounted.
Brakes are effective and easily operated.
Parking brake effective, can be operated from outside vehicle.
Tyres and rims comply with specifications.
Chain or belt guards securely in place and serviceable.
Chain or belt alignment is correct and free from excessive wear.
Petrol tank is of approved construction, mounted securely.
Steering wheel is secure and of strong/sturdy construction.
Steering turns freely lock-to-lock with no excessive free play.
Kill switch is fitted, working, and clearly labeled.
Battery is securely and safely mounted.
No loose items in or around the kart that could become hazards.
๐ง Driver Braking Function Check
Driver applies brakes while seated โ kart should not move when pushed.
Brakes are applied while the kart is moving โ it should stop effectively.
Driver starts engine and uses dash kill switch โ engine must stop immediately.
Engage the parking brake and attempt to move the kart. The kart must remain stationary without any input from the driver.
๐งข Driver Safety Equipment
Approved helmet, correctly fitted and fastened.
Full-coverage clothing (long sleeves, long pants).
Goggles or face shield (eye protection).
Gloves (recommended).
Approved footwear (sturdy, closed-toe โ not sandals or jandals).
Approved neck brace (speed events)
Indemnity documentation completed.
Driver and crew have viewed the event safety plan.
๐ Logbook & Scrutineer Notes
We recommend each CycleKart has a logbook to record maintenance and updates. Any issues identified during scrutineering will be noted below and signed by both the scrutineer and kart owner.
