Are you a researcher planning projects on the topic of language, communication and mental health? Would you like to attend an event that offers you the chance to get feedback on your ideas from people with lived experience/experts in policy and practice?
The Special Interest Research Group on Language, Communication and Mental Health are hosting a small event for a limited number of researchers to pitch their research ideas to a panel of stakeholders. We know that stakeholder consultation prior to grant submission is looked on favourably by funding bodies, but that getting access to stakeholders can be difficult. We want to see more research funded and conducted in this topic area, and hope this event will boost the chance of more research on this topic being funded.
The event will take place in Oxford, on Wednesday the 13th of April.
If you are interested in attending, please submit a 500-word summary of your research idea by 5pm on the 21st of March. There are limited places for researchers at this event. In the event that we have more submissions than we are able to invite to the day itself, we will notify researchers no later than the 25th of March about whether they are invited to attend the event on April 13th.
If you are invited to attend the day in April, we will ask researchers to prepare an accessible video that explains their idea: this video should be a maximum of 5 minutes long, and should be accessible to someone who is not an academic. We will ask you to send us your videos by Friday the 8th of April, for us to circulate to our stakeholders ahead of the 13th.
Please send your research idea, and any questions, to hannah.hobson@york.ac.uk .
We welcome applications from PhD students/early career researchers as well as mid and senior level researchers.
