Procurement

A framework for decision-making on the selection, acquisition or access to collections to support University teaching and research needs

  • The Library facilitates access to collections, in whatever format is most appropriate, at the point of need

  • Content is acquired on a temporary basis if this aligns with user need and is the more efficient procurement model

  • Our procurement practices are driven by the needs of our users and as indicated by our collection strengths

  • When purchasing is the most appropriate procurement method, print and digital resources (books, journals, databases and AV material) are obtained from our contracted library suppliers and other specialist suppliers (this includes resources provided via the interlending service)

  • Where available, digital is the preferred format and the associated number of print copies purchased may be reduced

  • The Library welcomes suggestions for purchase from all members of the University

  • The Library welcomes donations of material (without restrictions on their use or disposal) which enhance our collection strengths or support teaching and research
