Throughout the programme the ESRs are encouraged to communicate with a wider audience about their work, to both fellow academics and researchers, and also the wider public.
An example of such outreach is this educational video produced by Liz Quinlan (ESR 5), for "That Jorvik Viking Thing" (https://www.jorvikthing.com/). The video discusses research design and background information for her ongoing PhD project at the University of York, looking at the exploitation of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in the Medieval period across the North Sea area.

Representatives from across the Network gathered for an online Mid Term Meeting to review the work of the SeaChanges programme with a Project Officer from the European Commission.

Given the current situation, the varying speeds at which countries are coming out of lockdown and easing restrictions, and the possibility of renewed disruption in the near future, the SeaChanges Management Team and Supervisory Board have agreed that there will be no physical meetings during the remainder of 2020.

Given the ongoing pandemic, the OPI hosted an online, virtual 'conference' during the week of 11-15th May 2020, to replace the physical conference that was scheduled to take place in Ostend.
A number of individuals from the SeaChanges Network were in attendance and there were two poster presentations from the Network:
David Orton presented an overview of the programme, providing a summary of the research projects, themes and methods employed across the network over the next three years.
Katrien Dierckx presented a summary of her PhD project, which aims to develop identification methods to classify archaeological flatfish remains to species level, reconstruct a timeline for the presence and frequency of each species from key sites from around the southern North Sea littoral, and explore how flatfish fisheries changed around the marine fishing revolution.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Commission have released a number of FAQs providing guidance relating to ITNs and any flexibility of the rules that can be applied to ease the impact of the pandemic.
