Travelling to York

By train

There is a frequent, fast train service to York from London King’s Cross (taking about 2 hours). There is also a direct service between York, Leeds and Manchester Airport.

For international travellers, the Eurostar arrives in London at St. Pancras station. If you want to travel on to York by direct train, you will need to cross the road to King's Cross station.

Please note that purchasing train tickets well in advance can considerably reduce their cost.

By plane

Manchester Airport offers the easiest onward connection to York, with a direct train running from Manchester Airport to York city centre. Other options include Leeds-Bradford, Newcastle or the London airports.

STEM learning centre – On-campus short-stay guest rooms (subject to availability).

Travelodge Hull Road – Located outside the city centre and within a 20-minute walk of the venue, this is a budget-friendly option.

The Watergate Inn – A short walk from York city centre. It is located a 20-minute walk from York train station and next to a bus stop for routes 6, U1, and U2, which take you to Campus East. A mid-range option close to the city centre.

Roomzzz Aparthotels – Located a 20-minute walk from York city centre and a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop for routes U1 and U2, this accommodation offers fully serviced apartments. A mid-range option.

Premier Inn Blossom Street North & South – A short walk from York city centre. These two hotels are located a 10-minute walk from York train station and close to a bus stop for routes U1 and U2, which take you to Campus East, the conference venue. A mid-range option.

Hotel Indigo – Located a short walk from York city centre, a 30-minute walk from York train station. A bus stop for route U1 is also nearby. A more luxurious option.
