How does the production process of Kpop make it K?
Many videos such as BTS 'IDOL', STRAY KIDS '소리꾼', or BLACKPINKs 'DUDU DUDU DU', many of these groups have a distinct image they want to follow that is immediately recognized, the meanings between each stage and sequence can be analyzed into the ‘authentic’ feelings of these artists.
The way production is built of of a character, for example, by building someone to be the “look” or “image” of perfection
The way they stand, the manner in which they interact with others, members or staff is considered into how they may be perceived in a digital diary.
The most important is making it a part of their “true” selves
the main visual, art director, promotion, graphic design ,stylist, concept design planning and arrangement team, Director, producer, scripter, photography, lighting editor, story-boarder, (Sometimes VFX), editor, sound team, Mixer, 2D and 3D artists, Global and Domestic marketing team(interview team), host studio, field directors, visual designers, color correctors, translators, assistants to teams, UI/UX design team, makeup team, stylists just to name a few
the list goes on as every person is essential so filmin can happen in a timely manner follwing the schedule script in the order filming needs to be done.

Kim: It’s most important to make the group choreography look cool. Since people say that K-pop owes its success to its performance aspect, we naturally have to focus on how the music video will show off the members’ dance moves. The members’ good looks and fashion should also be highlighted. Back in the day, music videos explained what the song was about, but now it’s more focused on the visuals
Kim: PSY became world-famous thanks to his “Gangnam Style” (2012) music video. Nowadays, when a K-pop group drops an album, its most-consumed content around the world is the music videos. BTS and Blackpink also rose to global stardom as their music videos gained popularity. Groups that you may have never heard about garner over 100 million views online. Music videos contribute immensely to promoting Korea around the world today. That also means we have to pay even greater attention to every single detail. We feel heavy responsibility.
-Kimyoung-Jo (music video producer at Naïve production)
On the set of the Metaverse filming for the Star Iz Born, from the way that half of the production team may be foreign, the style in which is done is consistent with Korean music videos, vibrate colors, certain styling to seem to stand out with the other vibrant colors, the concept planning of a production in the US and Korea are completely different, In Korea before film production begins, the concept plan is handed out to the entire team that is involved, from the CEO to the interns, everyone receives the same information, both English and Korean formats are given. Planning will look similar to a presentation (powerpoint) with detailing under each section that needs filming with key points of what specifically needs to be done
In the US however scripts are notes done by producers and are only distributed to the necessary team members that focus on the look of the scenes.
We can question how the user experience of this production can inherently make it a Kpop production. What goes in it, who’s directing, what aspects of its media make it a K production
