Lifeguards are to wear the provided red one piece swimsuit with black shorts or the red Lifeguard swim trunks, with the red lifeguard shirt or tank top. Lifeguards will also wear the provided hip pack, with a resuscitation mask and non-latex gloves along with the breakaway name tag lanyard with a whistle.
Lifeguards may go without the lifeguard shirt on the pool deck indoors but must have a shirt and shoes on when leaving the pool deck.
Lifeguards may wear a red, black, or white rash guard under their uniform shirt and black leggings under their swim trunks or shorts when the temperatures are cooler.
Lifeguards will follow indoor attire. Red visors or baseball caps with the Y logo (worn forward) or straw hats are acceptable, all other headgear is not acceptable.
Lifeguards will be provided with a red long sleeve rashguard with the Y logo on the left chest and “lifeguard” on the back. Lifeguards will be provided shared winter jackets and wind/waterproof pants to wear over the indoor uniform (shared outerwear is laundered daily).
Shared ponchos will be available. The poncho must come off when entering the water. Stocking caps, plain black or red are permitted. Black tights/leggings may be worn under the lifeguard shorts or lifeguard swim trunks.
Outdoor winter wear is not acceptable inside. Sweatshirts and sweatpants are not acceptable attire.
Lifeguards are provided with a red hip pack, whistle, breakaway lanyard and name tag, resuscitation mask and non-latex gloves.
Swim instructors are to wear a royal blue rash guard with Y logo on the left chest and “instructor” on the back. Swim instructors have two options for swimwear—a one piece red swimsuit with black shorts or red lifeguard swim trunks. All other requirements in our Dress Standards Policy apply.
Aquatic Leads and Specialists will be provided with a lime green lanyard when acting in the lead or specialist capacity. All other requirements in our Dress Standards Policy apply.
*Note: Flip-flops, appropriate sandals or water shoes are allowed, but not required. Tennis shoes or other shoes that do not come off when entering the water are not acceptable. Guards may wear socks with their sandals,leggings under their shorts or rashguards under their shirt during the winter months. Sweatshirts and sweatpants are not acceptable.
